c_earnings_per_share(c_last_twelve_months_net_income, fis_weighted_average_basic_shares_outstanding)[source]

Calculate the earnings per share (EPS).

EPS is calculated using last twelve months net income and weighted average basic shares outstanding.

Parameters:
  • c_last_twelve_months_net_income (DataColumn) – The net income over the last twelve months.

  • fis_weighted_average_basic_shares_outstanding (DataColumn) – The weighted average basic shares outstanding.

Returns:

The earnings per share.

Return type:

DataColumn

Notes

Earnings per share is calculated as:

\[\mathrm{EPS} = \frac{\mathrm{Net\ Income}}{\mathrm{Weighted\ Average\ Basic\ Shares\ Outstanding}}\]

In Excel, assuming net income in column A and shares outstanding in column B (starting at cell A2):

  1. In cell C2, enter:

    =A2/B2
    
  2. Drag the formula down to apply it to the remaining rows.
